Today’s customers wish to know where and how their fish have been raised. As we are so proud of the island that we live on it is a pleasure to tell the customers where it comes from .We are also proud of the way we raise the fish and our aim is to produce a “happy halibut” and we believe if the fish are happy then the customer will be happy and if the customer is happy everyone is happy.

All Gigha halibut are fed with a certified organic diet using 100% fish trimmings as a source of protein and organic vegetable products as a source of carbohydrate. No pressure is therefore placed on the wild fishmeal fisheries

By farming fish in a sustainable, replenishable and controlled way, we do not deplete the endangered wild stocks of halibut in the sea and can be sure of the origin and quality of each fish we sell.

At Gigha Halibut we produce less than 200 tonnes of fish each year – that might sound a lot, but in the fishing industry it’s a drop in the ocean. What this means is that we can keep track of standards, and ensure the welfare of the individual fish in our care and maintain the artisanal approach to food production.

Thanks to the community wind farm, the Island of Gigha is a net exporter of electricity and the farm is able to benefit by using this renewable resource

We are blessed to live and work in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, and strive to look after our immediate environment, as well as making the most of the resources nature makes available to us – making sure to put back what we take.
