With dramatic landscapes and crystal clear waters, the unspoilt geography of Scotland makes it one of the world’s most beautiful countries. Bursting with natural resources,

Scotland has many isles and lochs, and Gigha is the most southerly of the Hebridean Islands. Seven miles long by a mile and a half wide, Gigha is around three hours’ drive from Glasgow. A breathtaking place with sandy beaches, clear green seas, and a host of wildlife, Gigha is known for its beauty and tranquillity.

With an eclectic and romantic history, Gigha has certainly seen its share of heroes and passion. The name is derived from the Norse ‘gudey’ – meaning ‘ Good Island’ or ‘ God Island’. In 2002, the tiny island’s remarkable community purchased the deeds to the land in order to become a self-sustaining society.

Today, the island’s people continue to embrace the values of sustainability, self-sufficiency and community.

We are grateful for all the support that we have received to date from the local community on Gigha, the local enterprise company, and our investors. We welcome enquiries about any feature of our operation, future sales, and future investment opportunities in Gigha Halibut.

Fresh air, comfortable cosy accommodation, Libby’s Gigha halibut lemon and lime chive butter, an island malt whisky all combine to slow the pace of life down and create what the Islanders call GMT - Gigha Mean Time. For more info on short breaks and accommodation visit the island web site.
