The Gigha halibut system is unique. We use a land-based fish farming system that harnesses the clean Atlantic waters from the Sound of Gigha to create a natural and protected environment in which our precious stock can develop. The fish are reared to organic standards.

Water is drawn from these natural sources and pumped up into holding tanks that empty via weirs into a flume that carries the water through the site. Each tank is fed via this flume and excess water is collected and returned to sea.

There are three sizes of tanks, each suitable for accommodating halibut at various stages of growth. The tanks are designed for ease of access and cleaning, as well as allowing us to constantly observe the fish. This means we perform to the highest standards of fish husbandry and produce only quality fish.

Our knowledgeable and well-trained staff ensure that fish are handled, monitored and treated with the utmost care to ensure they are healthy and happy.

Once fully grown, our fish is sold through distributors in the UK, EU and US. You’ll find Gigha Halibut on the menus of some of the best eateries on the planet.

In addition to fresh halibut we also offer smoked halibut . The quality of the smoked fish starts with the selection of the fresh product .

Fish are carefully selected and then traditionally smoked using oak chips from the Craigallachie distillery on Speyside. This results in an amazing product suitable for those landmark celebrations in ones life.
