More about Gigha

Gigha is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides, is 6 miles long, and because it is low lying and influenced by the North Atlantic Drift the climate is drier and warmer than that normally associated with the west coast of Scotland.

The island has beautiful, clean white sandy beaches and stunning views of the neighbouring islands (Islay and Jura) and across to the Kintyre Peninsula. It also boasts breathtaking sunsets, quiet lochs and gently sloping hillsides.

The temperate climate enables the famous Achamore Gardens to flourish, with over 50 acres of rare and unusual plants surrounded by picturesque woodland

The Gigha Stores is a family run business. It is the island’s only Post Office and Stores, very widely stocked with all the requirements for Island living. We also offer cycle hire, petrol and derv, fresh vegetables and bread. We stock a wide range of daily papers and magazines.

We have two self catering cottages located next to the Post Office. One can sleep 4 - a double bed and a fold out setee. The cottage is cosy and has a lounge/dining kitchen area and small bathroom. The other cottage has a double bed, galley kitchen and a seperate bathroom.
