Goodbye to Boots and Oilskins.

Goodby to Boots and Oilskins by Freddy Gillies was a photographic project that he felt compelled to undertake, given the rapidly shrinking numbers of Campbeltown and Carradale fishermen still active in the industry.
In this lavishly illustrated 80-page A4 sized book, Freddy has set out a 20th century pictorial record of the boats and men of the once renowned CN fishing fleet, featuring vessels, skippers and crew members from both ports.
He outlines briefly the fleets' activities throughout the century, and there is an interesting section detailing more than 200 boat names and registrations.
This book has been produced using predominantly colour photographs printed on top quality glossy paper, and is a must for anyone with an interest in the ongoing demise of the CN fishing fleet.
